Group wants track relocated

Aileen Wills started the petition last week after raising concerns about off-road vehicles using the track near residential areas at last month's Two Rocks Yanchep Residents Association (TRYRA) meeting.

After discussing possible solutions at the meeting, including setting a curfew or closing it down, Mrs Wills garnered support from TRYRA members to start a petition to relocate the track.

Another resident said there was already an informal track off Breakwater Drive that could be more suitable.

The track off Sovereign Drive is on an easement managed by the City of Wanneroo through an agreement with the private landowner, with the area ultimately destined to become suburban development.

A decision by the City to close the track in March 2014 prompted the four-wheel-driving community to rally, and it reopened a month later following repairs.

The track provides access to the Dewars Beach surfing spot and links to tracks in Wilbinga.
