It entered its cultural heritage management plan and was a finalist behind the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, which won overall for its Aboriginal firefighter cadet program.
“A lot of hard work has gone into the development of this plan and we are really pleased this work has been recognised,” Shire President David Roe said.
The Shire initiated the plan, which will soon be available to the public, to strengthen the continuing partnership with the Yued Noongar People, whose traditional country includes the Gingin Shire region.
