The women’s service club awarded the Edith Cowan University nursing student its Lucy Bohan nursing bursary.

The mother of five children, aged four to 17, will use the $1000 to buy a laptop for assignments.

She hopes to qualify as a registered nurse by 2015 and complete a masters degree in midwifery by 2017.

Ultimately, she wants to join the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

‘Rocheal-Lee is super-focused on her goals and always strives to be a top performer no matter what the task,’ club spokeswoman Dawn Newman said.

Lucy Bohan, who became the club’s second president in 1982, started nursing in 1948, rising to director of WA’s general nursing services.

She retired in 1986 and died in 1990.
