Homes connected to deep sewerage

AN infill sewerage project in Quinns Rocks was completed in March, Water Minister Mia Davies said last week .

Ms Davies said 908 residential lots in the area had now accessed the central wastewater system, with $9.9 million spent on the project since 2001.

The last stage cost $4.1 million and connected the final 270 lots to the system.

“This is a great social and environmental outcome for the local community of Quinns Rocks because it ends the reliance on septic tanks and leach drains,” she said.

“Wastewater from the final remaining lots can now be carried direct through a system of buried pipes and pump stations to a central treatment plant for safe processing and disposal.”
