Information and Communications Technology co-ordinator teacher John Keyworth said George Stojokos allowed the Year 12 students to explore his vehicle and answered questions.
“This particular HumVee is a 1988 model that saw military service in Bosnia during the 1990s,” Mr Keyworth said. “It weighs just under three tonnes and is fitted with a 6.2-litre V8 diesel engine, has self-inflating/deflating tyres, a mount for a .50 calibre machine gun and comes with a night vision thermal imaging camera.”
Although the HumVee is a large vehicle, the students found the inside cramped. Mr Bishop is teaching students about diesel engines and engine configurations. The March 17 visit by the vehicle tied in with the curriculum.
