Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

PIRATES, mermaids and fairies are expected to overrun Waterfront Park in Alkimos at a free family fun day next month.

The next Shore Things event will be ‘Treasures of Shorehaven’ on Sunday, December 2, with visitors encouraged to dress up.

The nautical-themed carnival will include a mermaid and fairy lagoon and pirate cove, with craft workshops, face painting, temporary tattoos, a discovery pool as well the opportunity to have a photo taken with a mermaid.

The main sail stage will feature live music and a pirate re-enactment as well body-shaking belly dancing, puppet, hip hop and pirate performances, with performers and characters also roving among the crowd.
