JP service kept busy

VOLUNTEER justices of the peace in Clarkson are signing more than five times as many documents as they did five years ago.

JP Peter Winstanley said the panel of volunteers at the JP signing service in Clarkson started off dealing with about 850 documents between July and December, 2009.

Mr Winstanley said the number of people using the service had since increased and the centre had processed 4690 documents in the six months to December 31, 2014.

“The service, which is provided by a small panel of justices of the peace, operates on Thursday nights between 6pm and 7.30pm and on Saturday mornings between 9am and 11am,” he said.

The Merriwa resident said people who could not visit the signing centre could find details of about 30 JPs in Clarkson and surrounding areas online as well.
