The Mindarie Senior College graduate has spent the past two years completing a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance through West Coast Institute, and now has gained a patient care assistant position at the Subiaco hospital.

The 17-year-old said she never expected to go straight from school into a job that allowed her to earn money while continuing her studies.

‘I feel like I’ve jumped the gun; at the same time I can work and study,’ she said.

Kate’s decision to opt for the WCI course over TEE has paid off, with her institute lecturer and Mindarie College careers co-ordinator nominating her for two awards.
