CLARKSON Community High School has expanded its teaching menu to include a kitchen-based course.

VET trainer Claire Rowley, who has 30 years’ experience as a chef, recently started teaching Year 11 students enrolled in a kitchen operations certificate II.

The course is part of a partnership with North Metropolitan TAFE, where she has been training certificate II and III hospitality students for the past four years.

Principal John Young said it meant the students could be fast-tracked into doing higher level chef and hospitality courses after they finished high school.

The course runs out of the school’s commercial kitchen.
