CHILDREN got their skates on last week with the opening of a temporary synthetic ice rink in Clarkson.

The rink, made from tiles that mimic the feel of ice, popped up on September 29 as part of free holiday activities offered by Ocean Keys Shopping Centre.

It will remain in the centre until October 10 and is open from 11am to 1.30pm daily for children aged five to 12.

Guildford’s Museum of Natural History has a display of snow-dwelling animals, including deer, foxes, squirrels and a badger, in the centre during the school holidays as well.
