Pictures by local photographers Andy Evans from Mullaloo and Jordan Cantelo from Butler made the cut in the Yellow Pages ‘Capture the Cover’ competition.

Mr Evans, whose winning image features on the northern suburbs version, said he was in the right place at the right time when the storm came rolling through.

The sunset made for some stunning colours in the sky.

‘I submitted a few pictures, all at Mullaloo beach, but for that one to get it, I was really pleased,’ he said.

‘I’ve done the beach a lot. I just love it, it’s forever changing.’

Mr Cantelo was a runner-up for his shot of a storm at Burns Beach.

‘My interest with storm chasing is where my photography love lies,’ he said.

‘When I saw the cold front approaching the coast, I raced to the beach, composed my shot and managed to snap my winning photo.’

The career firefighter said he had been doing photography seriously for about five years and when he was not working he would follow the storms, travelling as far north as Geraldton, east to Mt Magnet or south to Albany.
