Locals enjoy park life in Yanchep

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

The October 17 event launched the 1ha park on Victory Parade in Yanchep Golf Estate, which has big, mature flame trees, lawn, and a Nature Play area with play equipment designed from ‘on-site’ recycled timber.

Antony and Helen Fricker moved into the estate almost a year ago and said they were thrilled to see the park established.

“This was a brilliant event; it was so nice to see the community coming together and everyone getting out there,” Mr Fricker said.

“Pretty much everyone who lives on our street came along – we know everyone so we all walked down together.

“My son Riley (4) loved it. He was just going mad on the grass playing with the giant games and just running amok.”

Flora Ngoy brought her three daughters, including her four-week-old baby, along to the celebration.

“The girls had ice-cream and got to see all the native animals,” she said.

“It’s a great park to spend time with the family. My husband and I even took the kids back the next day.”

A second park will open in the estate this summer, with more landscaped recreational areas planned for the future.

There will be two more Sunday events at the park – on November 1 and 15 – when people can enjoy a mixture of arts and crafts, circus performers and refreshments.
