Love is golden

Tipped off by the couple's daughter, Shire of Gingin President Michael Aspinall visited the pair, who have lived in Sovereign Hill for more than 10 years.

"I received an email from Trish Edgar informing me of her parents" upcoming golden wedding anniversary on March 27," Cr Aspinall said.

"(She) asked if I could recognise this milestone in their lives in some way.

Ms Edgar said she was very proud of her parents, who had immigrated to Australia in the 1960s from Austria.

They raised two daughters, worked hard, embraced Aussie life and became Australian citizens as soon as they were eligible to do so.

Cr Aspinall presented them with a small gift from the Shire in recognition of this milestone in their life.

He congratulated them on 50 years of commitment to each other.
