The Shovel and the Gun band members brought their music, and instruments, to Butler College on September 24.

Performing arts co-ordinator Corrinne Rogers said music students enjoyed the visit from the band, whose vocalist and guitar player Greg Brenton was also the school’s instrumental music teacher.

‘Greg and his band members, Wayne Slater, Pail Gioia and Mace Francis, were blown away by our facilities and the opportunity to record their album in our performing arts centre,’ Ms Rogers said.

‘Shovel and the Gun and our music specialist students worked on a variety of techniques that included the many aspects associated with the composition of an album.’

Ms Rogers said the college was always keen to open its facilities to the community, particularly if it provided opportunities to open students’ minds and imaginations.
