The Mindarie Marina Hotel has taken over operation of the boat pens and jetties after a five-year hiatus as Mindarie Marina Services managed the facility.

The hotel, marina itself and hospitality venues along the boardwalk are owned by FJM Property, which hopes to streamline management of the complex.

Managing director Martin Smith will continue to oversee the portfolio of businesses at the marina, including the management and operations of the re-acquired boat pens and jetties.

‘I’ve seen the complex go through some significant developments, and the recent acquisition of the marina jetties and boat pens is a welcome addition,’ he said. ‘(It) will allow us to better service the boating community through extended hours, security and access to on-site amenities.’

Mr Smith said they looked forward to adding events to their calendar, which already features the annual Mindarie Festival and A Toast to the Coast food and wine festival.

Plans include water-based community festivals, a sports event and another event focused on the boating community in 2015.

Redevelopment of the marina included the addition of two floating jetties, increasing the number of short and long-term pens to 250, and the new managers also plan to increase security and services, provide free wi-fi and parking, and open a fishing shop.

Work is also about to start on a wave attenuation screen to protect the jetties and vessels from the harsh winter storms and tides.
