A much-loved 1980s tourist attraction in Two Rocks, the centre last week released copies of a documentary of the park, Remembering Atlantis Marine Park.

‘The documentary draws upon material donated by the community at the Atlantis rises memory sharing day in April, 2013, which was attended by 300 people,’ community history librarian Carol Leigh said.

‘Conversations with former staff and their family members were recorded on the day and excerpts from these bring to life the fascinating and poignant story of Atlantis Marine Park.’

Ms Leigh said the DVD used excerpts from seven interviews with managers, showgirls and a mammal keeper, interwoven with video footage, advertisements, photographs, postcards and objects to recount the rise and decline of the marine park.

‘The result is a wonderful and vivid portrayal of Atlantis Marine Park which not only provides much interest and enjoyment but also preserves its valuable history,’ she said.

Wanneroo Regional Museum is selling copies of Remembering Atlantis Marine Park for $10 plus $3 postage and packaging.

There are also copies of the DVD available to borrow at the City of Wanneroo’s libraries.
