With the 2013 Christmas pantomime, Hobbit and the Hidden Years, behind it, director Edmund Dowling and co-director Cobie Van Ryswyk are enlisting community support for forthcoming productions.

‘Too many people think that to be associated with a theatre group, you need to be able to act.

‘The great thing about community theatre is that almost everyone can find some way of helping, from sewing, creating flyers and painting scenery to selling tickets and making food for the opening night.’

Sixteen young actors put in 100 rehearsal hours for the December multi-media show, which included film segments shot at Yanchep National Park.

‘That it was a real success was tribute to the youngsters concerned and the guidance they received,’ Ms Yates Rothwell said.

‘Not least was the band of dedicated adults who helped in many ways, with costumes, scenery and all the things that make up a performance.’

Established 15 years ago, the theatre is at Two Rocks Shopping Centre.
