Merriwa Primary student’s Naidoc creativity a winner with judges

A YEAR 1 student from Merriwa Primary School, Issak Hamilton, recently won a Naidoc medal of excellence for his entry into a colouring competition.

“Earlier this year, many of our junior classes participated in a colouring-in competition as part of our Naidoc Week celebrations,” principal Susan Waterhouse said.

“Our entries were among those submitted by 119,000 students from around Australia who participated in a variety of colouring and creative writing competitions.

“The judges of the junior colouring competition included Aboriginal Elders, agency delegates and TV stars.

“We had many creative colouring-in pages created by some very talented students from our school.”

Mrs Waterhouse said the school was delighted one of its students won a medal of excellence, announcing Issak’s win at a school assembly.
