A NORTHERN suburbs church group has received $1 million from Lotterywest to fit out a community hub in Merriwa.

True North Church senior pastor Dean Groetzinger said they were grateful to receive the grant for the church campus being built on the corner of Jenolan Way and Connolly Drive.

“This development is all about creating a community hub that will serve and bless our community seven days a week,” he said.

“The vision has always been to create a fantastic space where people from across the community can come together, where services and programs can be accessed, where needs are met and capacity is built, and where people can also enjoy the arts and even some recreation.

“The whole site is really designed to become a common space for our community and we want it to be somewhere that everyone feels at home.

“This grant is going to help us now fit the spaces out so that it really can become a true community hub.”

Mr Groetzinger said the campus was expected to open in November.

At a recent Two Rocks Yanchep Residents Association meeting, member June Curnock said the church would have an open day for the community.

“It is going to change that whole area of Merriwa; that is going to change the ethos,” she said.

“People are going to have a place to call home and a place to get help.”
