Mindarie: green fingers to work their magic

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

VOLUNTEERS and a local horticulturalist will demonstrate how to transform a suburban garden bed into a habitat garden in Mindarie this weekend.

The Quinns Rocks Environmental Group, supported by the City of Wanneroo, is holding a hands-on activity to replant a garden bed with native plants in front of the Quinns Mindarie Surf Life Saving Club.

“Volunteers helping with planting, watering and mulching will learn about site preparation, plant selection and maintenance to create an attractive, low-cost garden beneficial to local wildlife,” committee member Renata Zelinova said.

“In preparation for the planting day, local children transformed an old brick wall bordering the garden bed with a colourful mural.”
