A HANGI to feed hungry students and staff was part of Harmony Week festivities at Mindarie Senior College this week.

Teacher Leah Allen said students at the school came from 31 countries with about half born in Australia.

The school made a hangi for lunch on Tuesday, March 19, cooking the food wrapped in cloth, aluminium foil and wire baskets on hot stones in the ground.

“We are also working with the cafe on campus to provide a snapshot of food from different cultures and will be sharing world music with the students at break times,” Mrs Allen said.

“We have a display in the library where students can pinpoint where they were born (and) a similar display at the front of the school where staff pinpoint where they were born as well as share their family heritage.”

Mrs Allen said staff would dress in orange today for gold coin donation that would go to charity.
