A SEVEN-year-old Perth girl has drowned in a river north of the city after going missing during a day trip with her family.
Police said they responded to reports of a missing girl at 3.30pm on Sunday in Guilderton, about 90 kilometres north of Perth.
Local residents searched for the child and found her body floating in Moore River.
Her family were visiting the area on a day trip.
Inspector Bradley from the State Operations Command Centre said: “The search ended tragically when the child was found floating, unconscious in the Moore River.
“Efforts to revive the child failed,” he added.
“The family, from Perth, were in Guilderton for the day. The child’s parents and other family members were present. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.”
