With the suburb part of their electorates – thanks to recent boundary changes – Pearce MHR Christian Porter and Ocean Reef MLA Albert Jacob teamed up last month to explore the area.
Clarkson Community High School principal John Young, teaching staff and the student leadership group gave the pair a tour of the grounds, including the nature playspace that opened last year. “The facilities and attitudes of the staff and students at Clarkson Community High School were impressive,” Mr Porter said.
“There is a real feeling of community here, of which everyone is very proud to be a part of.
“It is pleasing to see the school offering such a diverse curriculum which caters to every student’s individual strengths, whether they be academic extension and higher education or vocational education and training which prepares them for work while still being at school.”
Mr Jacob said it was good to see the school’s focus on creating a learning environment that benefited all students.
“While the facilities at the school continue to improve, so too does the community culture among the students and staff that make up the school,” he said.
Mr Porter will be up for re-election later this year, and Mr Jacob will recontest his seat in the 2017 State election.
