Yanchep retirement village gets visit from reality TV cooks

The former My Kitchen Rules contestants visited Bethanie Beachside on June 6 for a cooking demonstration for resident Margaret Ward, who won the Big Bethanie Bake-off last year.

The pair made two dishes, featuring chicken dumplings and homemade ice-cream, for almost 20 residents, using science-based knowledge in their cooking methods.

“We used dry ice to make their ice-cream quicker, which was a novelty enjoyed by the Bethanie onlookers,” Ms Donnelly said.

“Throughout the demonstration the residents were asked to assist with the preparation, and enjoyed their involvement.

“Residents were assisted with folding their dumplings and stirring the dry ice into the ice-cream, which gave them an opportunity to have a hands-on approach and show their own cooking expertise.”
