ALKIMOS residents will celebrate Neighbour Day with a community picnic this month.

Alkimos Beach estate will host the March 25 event for the Relationships Australia initiative, which encourages people to connect with those who live nearby.

The day is used to remind people about the importance of community connection and this year will focus on the importance of a supportive neighbourhood for children and young people.

The estate will hold a Sunday picnic at Escarpment Park from 12.30pm to 2pm on March 25 with live music, oversized games and picnic hampers available on the day.

“We are going to meet the neighbours and have a picnic at the park,” resident Marelize Landman said.

“We look out for each other. It’s more than just the day.”

Lendlease WA communities business general manager Anthony Rowbottom said it was great to see the community at the estate celebrate its first Neighbour Day.

“Since our first residents moved in, in 2014, our community has grown community has grown from six houses and 20 residents into a thriving community of 650 houses and 1500 residents with an active surf club, two schools, eight completed parks and a retail precinct,” he said.

“To residents new and old, we encourage you to come along and get to know your neighbours.”
