New rules at Clarkson station

Councillors approved the change at their May 28 meeting, meaning drivers can remain in the six embayments on the eastern side of Orenco Bend for only two minutes to drop-off or collect commuters.

According to the report, planners had assumed commuters would mostly arrive on foot or by bus, so the facilities were limited, but instead it had become difficult for motorists to find free parking bays.

‘This lack of available parking forces motorists to carry out pick-up or drop-off on road pavement north of the embayment, resulting in reduced visibility for overtaking vehicles and creating safety issues at the bend,’ it said.
