Verna Williamson celebrated her 100th birthday.

Mrs Williamson, who lives in Yanchep aged-care facility Bethanie Beachside, first lived in West Leederville.

She attended West Leederville Primary School, then went on to Perth Girls High School before studying millinery at technical school and working as a milliner in a store on Hay Street, Perth.

She married Frank Williamson in 1937 and they moved to Bunbury for five years before returning to Perth to raise their four children, Valerie, Maxine, Doug and Vern.

Mrs Williamson has six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

‘Despite being in a wheelchair, she still tries to be active, pedalling around the corridors,’ her grandson John Thornett said.

‘It doesn’t seem reaching a century could stop her ” she shows no sign of slowing down.’
