The Metronet project proposes to extend rail from Butler to Yanchep, with stations in Alkimos and Eglinton.

NOMINATIONS are open for the Yanchep Rail Extension community reference group.

The group will have a direct line of communication with the team managing the Metronet project to extend the Joondalup Line 14.5km from Butler to Yanchep.

It will have a maximum of 10 community members, including at least two business representatives and four residents, who will help the project team by identifying local opportunities, issues and concerns.

The group will act as a sounding board regarding the design and construction of the rail line, stations in Yanchep, Eglinton and Alkimos, and construction impacts.

It will be encouraged to bring feedback and collect community enquiries for discussion in the meetings to identify issues.

Applications close on July 5 and members will be notified in late July.

Eligible members must live or have a business close to the project area, represent a community group or organisation, and be available to attend meetings, with at least four a year planned.
