North coast schools step out for Walk Safely to School Day

SCHOOLS promoted Walk Safely to School Day last Friday, encouraging families to walk their children to school instead of driving.

Alkimos Primary School associate principal Pip Ramsden said about 20 staff members and more than 100 families met at two different locations on May 17 then walked to school together.

East Butler Primary School’s canteen opened from 7.30am offering hot drinks and food for staff, students and parents who took park in the initiative.

“We were also joined by Rick The Rock Eagle from the West Coast Eagles which the children absolutely loved and made the most of every minute with him,” school officer Chantelle Burns said.
