THE Northern Suburbs Women’s Friendship Group will hold its first event to coincide with International Women’s Day next month.

The group meets at the Jenolan Way Community Centre on Mondays and Thursdays from 9.30am to 1.30pm, with the March 8 event coinciding with their regular gatherings.

“We are going to put on a high tea,” president Sylvia Osbourne said.

“We are going to do a display of the things that we are doing in the club.”

Mrs Osbourne, who was one of the founding members, said their projects included crafts and making baby burial gowns from wedding dresses through the charity Angel WA Sisters.

Guest speakers at the International Women’s Day event will include City of Wanneroo Deputy Mayor Nat Sangalli, former police officer and Labor candidate for Pearce Kym Travers and Vishva Hindu Parishad WA Chapter president Neha Shingal.

The event will run from 10.30am to 12.30pm on March 8 at the community centre on Jenolan Way, Merriwa.

To attend, call Sylvia on 0421 236 603 or Lyn on 0430 647 071 by February 27.
