Panel rejects multimillion-dollar Carona Construction-lead development beside Mindarie Marina

A DEVELOPMENT assessment panel (DAP) has refused planning approval for a $4 million development beside Mindarie Marina.

The five-person north west metropolitan DAP rejected Peter Webb and Associates’ application on behalf of owner Carona Construction to build 11 dwellings on two lots on Southampton Lane. Reasons included in the September 2 decision included that the plot ratio did not meet design codes for the area.

“It is considered to be inconsistent with orderly and proper planning to allow an increase in the plot ratio area to that which is permitted for an R80 coded lot through a development application,” it said.

“This will increase the density potential of the subject lots and undermine the integrity of the residential density requirements of the residential designs.”

The plans had proposed two one-bedroom buildings, one two-bedroom building and eight three-bedroom buildings plus 20 car bays.
