At last week’s Wanneroo Council meeting, councillor Sabine Winton presented a petition about parking at Butler Station on behalf of Merriwa resident Lewis Flood.

The 591-signature petition said the 930 parking bays would be insufficient and called for the number to be doubled.

The Public Transport Authority has built three parking lots, two of which are leased from the Brighton Estate developer. A Satterley Property Group spokeswoman said the carparks were on a 12-year lease from December 1, 2011.

‘Once this expires, the PTA have first right to purchase, and currently they pay $1 for each car (bay), per year,’ she said.

The council approved reports on parking plans for Butler Station and parking permits around Clarkson Station at its August 19 meeting.

Staff will report back on the scope of the Butler plan by December and expect to issue permits for residents around Clarkson on November 30.
