Councillors unanimously supported a motion by Cr Ian Goodenough at the April 30 meeting to look into permits.
Cr Goodenough said there had been many complaints since the City introduced three-hour parking limits for on-street parking in the area in 2012.
‘The train station precinct is characterised by small lot developments with limited on-site parking, necessitating the parking of some vehicles in street parking bays,’ he said.
‘Without parking permits, residents are being penalised for parking outside their own homes where residents in other suburbs can park.’
Cr Rudi Steffens said he had also been approached by residents, because some homes did not have rear parking. After investigating possible parking permit systems, the council administration will prepare another report.
