PLANS to rebuild Yanchep’s oldest school are out for public consultation.

The State Government is building new facilities for Yanchep Lagoon Primary School, formerly Yanchep District High School, to replace ageing buildings.

The City of Wanneroo has invited public comment until May 1 on the plans, which will be assessed by the Finance Department and presented to the Metro North-West Development Assessment Panel for determination.

The $11.3 million proposal included demolishing some buildings at 15 Primary Road and building a Kindergarten and Pre-primary block, two teaching blocks, bike racks and parking in the first stage of works.

Stage two works will include a library, covered assembly area, bird cage, staff car park and visitor parking.

The school is expected to continue to operate as normal during the works.

Transportable classrooms were brought in last term for early childhood classes to use from April 30.
