Playground gets the thumbs-up

Mother Ann Dall said children, including her son Oliver (10) and daughter Charlotte (6), had been quick to explore the playground earlier this month.

‘The guys took down the scaffolding and they (the children) went right on to the park,’ she said.

‘They get to see a lot more of their school friends ” you don’t realise that there are so many kids in the area.’

Mother Charlene Thrupp said families had been waiting for the playground since the park was put in four years ago.

‘It’s great to see it happen, it’s been a long time coming,’ she said.

‘You can see that it’s going to be well used.’

The City of Wanneroo installed the playground in early August, at the request of local families, according to Mayor Tracey Roberts.

‘We listened to what the local community was asking for, and the location was chosen to service a broad area and a large amount of residents,’ Mrs Roberts said.

The playground on Ashmore Avenue has a basket swing, spring rocker, balance beam, steppers, slide and swings, and was completed with limestone edging and sand soft fall.
