WA drivers have backed the police’s reaction to a Ford Mustang driver allegedly clocked doing 190km/h on Indian Ocean Drive.
Police said in a social media post this Labour Day long weekend the “190km/h of stupidity” on the accident-prone road near Nilgen was hard to believe.
“It is hard to believe that with all the recent publicity around serious and fatal crashes on Indian Ocean Drive, and all the publicity about the work being done to make the road safer, including increased police patrols, that people are still willing to put themselves and others at risk by making dangerous and stupid decisions to speed,” police wrote.
Drivers took to Facebook to comment after news the car has been impounded for 28 days and the driver is set to face court in relation to reckless driving:
Proof that the problem is not the road -Brad Onley
Great work WA Police. We were driving on there today, and thankfully didn’t see this a**hole. This driver is a danger to others. Crush the car for sure. Make them an example -Liz Elliott
Unbelievable. Just glad that no one was hurt on such a treacherous stretch of road -Jill Gleeson
I understand why police hate this, you crash at this speed and you will die. They first have to see the deceased then tell their loved ones. Hard job -Garrith Joyce
