PRIME Minister Malcolm Turnbull visited a Mindarie pub in the first stop of his Perth trip this evening.

Mr Turnbull joined Pearce MHR Christian Porter has his ‘Porter in the Pub’ meet and greet at the Indian Ocean Brewing Co on July 30.

“The Prime Minister asked if this could be the first stop on his trip to Perth,” Mr Porter said.

“He was interested to hear what it’s like in the northern coast in one of the fastest growing regions in Australia.”

Mr Porter said the event was open to the public, although the Prime Minister’s presence was not widely advertised.

“It was a massive crowd tonight,” he said.

“This was just completely raw, unscripted politics.

“The crowd was, generally speaking, very warm.

“I think that the crowd here tonight was great and he was great with the crowd.”

Mr Porter said Mr Turnbull had acknowledged the GST distribution issue and committed to help fix it.

Federal ministers are in Perth for Cabinet meetings this week, and Mr Porter said it was good to hold those locally.

“It means I don’t have to get on an airplane,” he said.

Moore MHR Ian Goodenough, City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts and councillor Linda Aitken, and former State MP Albert Jacob were also at the event.
