The Yanchep District High School science club students will also be planting native flora after adopting Oldham Reserve through the City of Wanneroo’s ‘adopt a bushland’ program.

They plan to visit the bushland monthly and have invited parents and members of the community to help.

A City spokeswoman said 12 schools were registered with the program, which outlined issues and threats to natural areas.

‘It includes flora and weed identification and depending on how hands-on the school wishes to be, can include planting and bushcare days and rubbish collection,’ she said.

‘Schools can become involved by accessing the program on the City’s website or contacting the City’s conservation team.’
