City of Wanneroo acting infrastructure director Harminder Singh said people should obey signs during the feral animal control program in March and April.

‘Residents and visitors to the City’s coastal foreshore reserves and Kinsale Park are asked to obey signage and stick to formalised access tracks,’ he said.

‘The annual coastal rabbit and fox control program will be undertaken in March and April within the foreshore conservation reserves stretching from south of Quinns Road to the Tamala Park bushland as well as Kinsale Park.

‘The program aims to reduce the number of feral rabbits that damage coastal dunes, bushland vegetation and rehabilitation sites.

‘It will also aim to reduce the number of foxes that are preying on native fauna.’

Mr Singh said people walking pets should also avoid those areas.

‘Keep them on a leash at all times in these areas, or use designated dog exercise areas,’ he said.
