The three-storey car park at Ocean Keys shopping centre opened on December 20, and AMP Capital development manager Jennifer Berrigan said they had been out re-educating customers using guards to direct traffic into the facility.
‘There will be plenty of bays ” roughly double the amount of bays that were in the existing on-ground parking,’ she said.
The Times toured the redevelopment site recently, where work is underway on the first stage of the mall extension and the food hall.
‘We are still finishing off the dining precinct,’ Ms Berrigan said.
‘The mall is largely constructed, most of the tenancies are ready.’
She said those shops would be fitted out over the next few months, with an opening planned in late March.
Outside, the Built Environs has closed part of Key Largo Drive and created a small detour along Caribbean Circuit while it constructs the street front commercial tenancies and 10 apartment units above those.
Ms Berrigan said the closure was necessary for the builder to gain access to the site, and the current closure was in place until January 12, but they had advertised to keep it closed until October.
Building activity slowed over the festive season, but picked up again yesterday when the rest of the original car park on the south-east corner of the site closed.
Ms Berrigan said last month they had been pleased to announce JB Hi Fi would have a 1250sqm store near the dining precinct.
‘It is a fantastic get for Ocean Keys to have a store of that size,’ she said.
