Proposed horse beach for Eglington rejected by Wanneroo Council

A HORSE beach will not be established in Eglinton despite the hopes of more than 1000 residents.

A petition with 1052 signatures was presented to Wanneroo City council in May, requesting a horse exercise area at Pipidinny Beach.

This followed the City of Joondalup’s announcement that it would close its Hillarys beach to horses by the end of this year.

Councillors at the August 19 meeting unanimously supported the City’s recommendation, which found the location was unsuitable because of intertidal rock along the foreshore.

As part of the recommendation, potential for a horse beach located within the City will be investigated through completion of the Coastal Hazard Risk Management and Adaption Plan and Coastal Management Plan.
