THE Public Transport Authority (PTA), with the City of Wanneroo, will hold a community drop-in session about plans to build a roundabout at the Hester Avenue and Baltimore Parade junction this month.

The September 19 event will not include a formal presentation, but residents can drop in to the Addison Park clubrooms on Baltimore Parade, Merriwa, between 4pm and 7pm to learn about the project.

PTA plans to start work next year to build a three-way roundabout at the Merriwa junction so it can reinstate Transperth bus route 483’s right turns from Baltimore Parade into Hester Avenue.

The route diverted in July 2017 due to safety concerns when the Mitchell Freeway extension to Hester Avenue opened.

PTA expects the roundabout will improve on-time running of the 483 service by two to three minutes on an average trip, as well as its reliability.

It also said the roundabout would provide a safer alternative pedestrian crossing option.
