Quinns Beach shark barrier back in the water until April

THE Quinns Beach swimming enclosure was back in operation in time for the last weekend of the summer holidays.

City of Wanneroo assets director Harminder Singh said the contractor successfully finished reinstalling the enclosure on Friday, February 1, after four days of favourable weather conditions and site works.

The structure was removed for essential repairs after severe winter storms last year. Its reinstallation took longer than expected due to delays in delivery of materials, testing and weather conditions.

“The enclosure is now fully functional and open to the public,” Mr Singh said.

“Monitoring of the enclosure by Global Marine Enclosures has now commenced and maintenance works will be undertaken as required to ensure the enclosure remains functional until the end of April.

“The enclosure walls will be removed from the water in April and reinstated in October each year to avoid damage from winter storm conditions.”
