Quinns Beach shark protection on track with helicopter help

Laura PondNorth Coast Times

PERTH’S next shark-protected beach is on track to open this month after a helicopter helped install anchor blocks at Quinns Beach.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services helicopter hovered over the beach yesterday morning to lower the concrete blocks 85m offshore as construction of Global Marine Enclosures’ shark barrier entered its second week.

Divers are now installing the offshore enclosure wall, followed by the southern and northern walls 300m apart.
