A FEDERAL grant of $500,000 will help fund a $1.4 million change rooms building at a Quinns Rocks park.

Pearce MHR Christian Porter said funding for Belhaven Park provided through the Community Sport Infrastructure Grants program was part of a focus on investing in local grassroots sporting facilities.

“Grassroots sports help drive increased participation and promote social, health and community benefits of physical activity and sport,” he said.

Mr Porter said sport played an important role in the Quinns Rock area and the $500,000 would fund a sports amenities building.

“Local sporting clubs such as Quinns Rocks Little Athletics, Quinns Districts Junior Football Club, North Coast Ball Club and West Perth Football Development District will benefit from this new sports amenities building,” he said.

The investment will also benefit Quinns Beach Primary School which will use the facilities under a shared use agreement with the City of Wanneroo.

Wanneroo Council approved a $1.4 million concept plan for the change rooms late last year, which it plans to build by November.`
