SHADE sails could cover the Fred Stubbs Park playground by December, according to the City of Wanneroo.

A response to questions by Merriwa resident Lewis Flood at the May 9 council meeting said the City’s draft 2017-18 capital works budget included shade sail installation at the Quinns Rocks park.

“Pending adoption of the budget by council, the shade sails will be installed by December 2017 in readiness for the summer season,” it said.

At the meeting, Mayor Tracey Roberts said the City had spent “millions of dollars on the foreshore” to address erosion issues and reinstalled the park and playground in 2014.

Councillor Nat Sangalli presented Mr Flood’s 693-petition requesting the City build shade sails over the play equipment at Fred Stubbs Park.

According to the City’s website, parks scheduled to have playground shade sails installed this financial year include Oldham Park in Yanchep, San Teodoro Park in Wanneroo, Warradale Park in Landsdale and Blackmore Park in Girrawheen.
