Butler Fire and Rescue Station officer Mark Papadopoff won the WA Police and Emergency Service Child Safety award on August 10.
The category recognised an emergency services employee who made an exceptional contribution to child safety outcomes, with Mr Papadopoff’s education program in Malaga earning him the prize.
According to his nomination, the firefighter saw a need for an education program targeting culturally diverse communities following an increase in kitchen fires in the Malaga area in the homes of non-English speaking members of the community.
