Red letter day

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

A MARMION teacher will turn her school red this Friday to raise awareness about cystic fibrosis.

Beckii Haines, who teaches pre-primary at Marmion Primary School, has co-ordinated a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis WA's annual 65 roses campaign on May 29.

On Friday, the school community will wear red and fundraise through a "make and sell" stall, after-school picnic and silent auction of artwork.

Ms Haines said having a student with the disease prompted her to learn more about cystic fibrosis and spread awareness.

"I think the most shocking part for me is how CF affects a person's entire life " their nutrition, their exercise, their daily schedule, it's everything," she said.

"As a school, it's nice to feel that we are trying to make a difference and raise awareness and put money towards services for those families that are dealing with it every day."

May is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month.
