FISHERS can take part in Reel It In, a fishing competition at Two Rocks Marina on Saturday, April 29.

Organised by local business Empire Events & Markets, the competition allows anglers to show off their fishing skills while raising funds for Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue Group (TRVMRG).

TRVMRG deputy commander David Haynes welcomed the event, with the last fishing competition in the area held more than two years ago.

“I used to organise fishing competitions here, which were very popular,” he said.

“It gives fishers a reason to get out on the water and show off their fishing skills, and in this instance, it helps to raise much-needed funds to marine rescue.”

Organiser Virginia Dziegielewski said BCF vouchers were up for grabs as well as three months’ free trailer boat storage from Two Rocks Boat Lifters.

“Reel It In is a special once-off event being held at Two Rocks Marina and costs only $10 per adult shore fishing and $5 per child or $20 per boat to enter the competition,” she said.

“There will be a mystery weight for each fish category; the closest to the mystery weight will win the prize.”

Mrs Dziegielewski said The Reef, Two Rocks estate developers had sponsored the competition to provide the community with another recreational activity.
