Retro Rewind rolls back into Yanchep National Park in March

Staff WriterNorth Coast Times

THE City of Wanneroo’s Retro Rewind will return to the lush surrounds of Yanchep National Park next month.

A funky celebration of all things yesteryear, the rose-tinted family-friendly event will feature retro fashion and music, classic hot rods and market stalls.

The headline act, eight-piece ensemble Hornography, is expected to get the grassy dancefloor grooving with jazzy tunes reminiscent of James Brown and Marvin Gaye.

Two other acts, Peta Lee and the Sultanas of Swing and The Rough Housers, are expected to get toes tapping and hips swaying with their rhythmic blend of rockabilly, blues and swing.

“The Vintage Collective Markets will once again be a major attraction, with dozens of stalls selling a wide range of vintage items,” Mayor Tracey Roberts said.

“A vintage fashion parade will showcase colourful designs from the ‘50s and ‘60s, while fierce hot rods will delight car lovers young and old.

“Free activities such as a vintage photo booth, bouncy castle, classic arcade games and giant lawn games will keep the children entertained all afternoon.”

Retro Rewind runs from 1pm to 5pm on Saturday, March 9, with entry to Yanchep National Park free from midday.

The event is sponsored by The Vintage Collective Markets, Channel 9, North Coast Weekender, the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions and the Parks and Wildlife Service.
